OpenSSL
The newest OpenSSL 3, in /usr/local/openssl. IRIX’s own is far too old for TLS 1.2 or 1.3.
Current OpenSSL, OpenSSH, curl and zlib for IRIX 6.5, and the drivers and agent that run it under an emulator, as inst packages. Every package is built and tested on IRIX 6.5.22 with MIPSpro 7.4.
The newest OpenSSL 3, in /usr/local/openssl. IRIX’s own is far too old for TLS 1.2 or 1.3.
The newest OpenSSH portable release, in /usr/local/openssh, built against the OpenSSL and zlib packages.
The newest curl, with TLS from the OpenSSL package and HTTP/3 through nghttp3 and ngtcp2.
The newest zlib, in /usr/local/zlib. IRIX ships 1.0.4, which OpenSSH and curl refuse.
The HTTP/3 library curl is built with.
The QUIC library curl is built with.
A virtio-serial driver: byte channels between an IRIX guest and its emulator, with no UART, network or disk involved.
A virtio-9p filesystem: mount a directory of the emulator’s host on the IRIX guest.
A native QEMU Guest Agent for IRIX, speaking over vioser: the host can ping, query and exchange files with the guest.
Open a .tardist link in Netscape on IRIX and it hands the package to Software Manager. This site and its downloads also work over plain HTTP, at http://irix.xn--verfg-nva.bar/, for browsers that can’t do current TLS.
Or install it from a shell, as root; inst reads the .tardist as it is:
/usr/sbin/inst -a -f zlib_modern-1.3.1.tardist -I zlib_modern
